**Salem, Tamil Nadu:** Tourism Minister R. Rajendran announced on Saturday that the Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned projects worth ₹10,000 crore for Salem district over the past three and a half years. During a mass contact program in the city, the Minister outlined the various initiatives and welfare schemes implemented by the DMK government, highlighting the impact on the local population.

“The Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam scheme has benefitted over 10.44 lakh residents in Salem,” said Mr. Rajendran. He also highlighted the distribution of crop loans worth ₹2,965 crore and loans for women self-help groups amounting to ₹4,000 crore. The Minister further emphasized the implementation of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam, benefiting 75,000 women in the Ammapet zone, and the Old Pension Scheme for 33,302 elderly individuals.

In addition to welfare programs, the Minister also emphasized the significant infrastructure development in Salem. This includes 602 road projects costing ₹36.11 crore, redevelopment of Allikuttai Lake at ₹10 crore, ₹135.68 crore for stormwater drainage, and parks at ₹17.57 crore.

The event concluded with the distribution of bicycles to 265 students at Sivathapuram Government Higher Secondary School and job appointment orders handed out to differently-abled individuals at a job fair held at Hanging Garden.
