Sat Nov 09 00:23:21 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates South Africa in First T20I, Winning by 61 Runs

**Durban, South Africa:** India started their tour of South Africa with a resounding victory, defeating the hosts by 61 runs in the first T20I at Kingsmead, Durban on Friday.

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, posted a formidable total of 202/8 in their innings, thanks to a magnificent century by Sanju Samson (101 off 61). However, the real story of the match was India’s spin attack, which completely stifled the South African batting lineup.

Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy picked up three wickets each, restricting South Africa to a paltry 141 runs. The South African batsmen seemed completely out of sorts against the Indian spinners, struggling to decipher their variations and unable to build any momentum.

Earlier, Samson anchored India’s innings, scoring his second consecutive T20I century, despite facing a strong South African bowling attack. He was well supported by Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav, but the Indian innings lost some steam towards the end due to a few wickets falling in quick succession.

Gerald Coetzee was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa, taking three wickets, including a crucial one of Sanju Samson.

India’s bowlers then took charge, keeping the South African batsmen under pressure throughout their chase. The spinners were particularly impressive, with Bishnoi and Chakravarthy displaying their skills with the ball.

This victory gives India a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. The second T20I is scheduled for Sunday at the St George’s Park in Gqeberha.
