Sat Nov 09 09:07:44 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates South Africa in First T20I, Samson Stars with Century
**Durban, South Africa:** India secured a resounding 61-run victory over South Africa in the first T20 International on Friday, taking a 1-0 lead in the four-match series. Sanju Samson’s sensational century, his second in as many T20Is, laid the foundation for India’s commanding performance.
Samson, who has often been criticized for not living up to his potential, smashed 107 runs off just 50 balls, including 10 sixes, propelling India to a formidable 202/8. His blistering innings included a spectacular six over extra cover off Andile Semilane, showcasing his remarkable power and consistency at the top of the order.
India’s bowlers then took over, suffocating the South African batting lineup. Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi, both spinners, bowled brilliantly, taking three wickets each. Chakravarthy was particularly effective, removing key batsmen Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller in quick succession. Bishnoi, meanwhile, bowled five consecutive dot balls to Miller, highlighting the pressure he exerted on the South African batsman.
The Indian bowlers combined to bowl 27 dot balls, restricting South Africa to a paltry 141 in 17.5 overs, ultimately securing a dominant victory.
The second T20I of the series is scheduled for Saturday in Gqeberha.
