Fri Nov 08 19:47:52 UTC 2024: ## India Dominates South Africa in First T20I, Samson Stars with Century
**Durban, South Africa:** India started their T20 series against South Africa with a resounding victory, defeating the hosts by 61 runs in the first match at Kingsmead on Friday.
The victory was built on a brilliant century from Sanju Samson, who smashed 107 runs off 50 balls, studded with 7 fours and 10 sixes. Samson’s innings laid the foundation for a challenging target of 203 runs, which proved too much for the South African batsmen.
India’s total of 202/8 was built around a 66-run partnership between Samson and Suryakumar Yadav (21), and a 77-run stand with Tilak Varma (33).
Despite a valiant effort from captain Aiden Markram, who scored 21 runs off 10 balls, the South African chase fell apart quickly. The hosts lost wickets regularly, and were eventually bowled out for 141 in 18.3 overs.
The Indian bowlers were disciplined throughout, with Ravi Bishnoi (2/25) and Varun Chakravarthy (2/18) particularly impressive. However, the real hero was Sanju Samson, who continued his excellent form with his second century in as many T20Is.
This victory gives India a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting clash between two strong T20 teams. The next match is scheduled for Sunday at the same venue.
