Fri Nov 08 20:44:00 UTC 2024: ## India Triumph Over South Africa in T20 Series Opener
**Durban, South Africa:** India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, expressed his delight after his side secured a dominant 61-run victory over South Africa in the first game of the four-match series in Durban on Saturday. Yadav attributed the win to the team’s commitment to a fearless style of cricket, a hallmark of their recent performances.
“It’s good we were following the same thing, didn’t change the brand of cricket. We were playing in the last 2-3 series and very happy with the win,” Yadav stated during the post-match presentation.
The captain singled out opener Sanju Samson for praise, acknowledging his hard work behind the scenes and his growing importance as a frontline T20I batsman. Samson’s second consecutive century showcased his aggressive approach, a quality lauded by Yadav.
“See the amount of hard work he has done in last so many years playing with India, doing the boring things day in and day out…he is eating the fruits of that today. I am very happy the way he is putting the team first,” Yadav remarked.
Despite a strong start, the middle order faltered slightly, failing to build on Samson’s strong foundation. However, Yadav remained unfazed, emphasizing the importance of fearless batting and maximizing scoring opportunities.
“We just want to be fearless in the middle. Even though we lose some wickets is completely fine. We want to bat with one motto and but that’s what we want to look forward to. Even though yeah it is a T20 game, we have 20 overs but if we can get 200 in 17 overs why not?” he concluded.
India’s convincing win sets a positive tone for the series, highlighting their potent batting lineup and their commitment to an attacking brand of cricket.
