**Shivamogga, November 9, 2024:** A tragic incident occurred in Pura village near Aldur, Chikkamagaluru taluk, where an elephant was found dead on Saturday due to electrocution. The animal is believed to have come into contact with a live wire in an agricultural field belonging to Chandre Gowda.

The Forest Department officials have been struggling to drive back a group of wild elephants that have been roaming in the area for the past few days. The deceased elephant is believed to be part of this herd.

The officials were unable to conduct further procedures on Saturday due to the presence of other elephants surrounding the carcass. However, a post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday.
