**Bengaluru, November 09, 2024:** A couple from Nepal was arrested in Bengaluru for cultivating marijuana plants in their kitchen garden. The Sadashivanagar police apprehended 38-year-old Urmila Kumari and her husband, 37-year-old Sagar Gurang, after receiving a tip from a viewer who spotted the plants in a short video reel the couple had uploaded on social media.
The couple, who were employed at a private firm, confessed to growing the ganja plants to sell to their customers. They attempted to conceal their illegal activity by discarding the plants in the trash when police arrived at their home in MSR Nagar. However, officers recovered 54 grams of ganja leaves from the dustbin.
The couple has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and released on station bail.
