Fri Nov 08 20:24:04 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Denies Agreement on Hybrid Model for Champions Trophy 2025

**LAHORE, PAKISTAN** – The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has vehemently denied reports suggesting an agreement on a “hybrid model” for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025, which would see India play its matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The PCB, in a statement, declared that a hybrid model is not under consideration and dismissed rumors circulating in the media as unsubstantiated. A top PCB source told AajTak that some individuals are spreading false narratives for personal gain, claiming that “XYZ” sources have confirmed the hybrid model.

The PCB further stressed that the final decision on hosting the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled for February-March 2025, remains pending. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to give its approval, and the final decision rests with the Indian government.

The Champions Trophy’s hosting format remains under discussion, with three main options on the table:

1. **Full tournament in Pakistan:** The original plan, with all matches being played in Pakistan.
2. **Hybrid model:** India plays its matches in the UAE while other teams play in Pakistan.
3. **Relocation of the entire tournament:** The entire tournament is shifted from Pakistan to a different location.

The PCB has maintained its stance that the Champions Trophy should be held in Pakistan, with all eight participating teams playing their matches there.

The schedule for the tournament, which is expected to feature 15 matches including the final, is due to be announced on November 11th. Reports suggest that the opening match will take place on February 19th, with the final scheduled for March 9th.

While the PCB insists on hosting the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the final decision remains contingent on India’s participation and the BCCI’s approval, along with the Indian government’s stance on sending the team to Pakistan.
