Sat Nov 09 15:59:04 UTC 2024: ## BJP Committed to Protecting Waqf Properties, Says Minister Joshi
**Hubballi, November 9, 2024:** Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi has assured the public that the BJP will continue to safeguard Waqf properties. Addressing the press in Hubballi, Joshi stated that the BJP has a proven track record of protecting such properties and will not allow them to be misused by either the Waqf board or land grabbers.
Accusing the Congress of misleading the public on the Waqf issue, Joshi claimed that the Congress government in the state had allowed influential leaders to grab 29,000 acres of Waqf properties, as per the Anwar Manappadi committee report. He further alleged that the Congress has a history of misguiding people and that their current actions are simply a continuation of this pattern.
Joshi urged citizens to be vigilant and regularly verify their land records, as the current government’s actions raise concerns about the possibility of properties being wrongly classified as Waqf assets. He suggested that this verification should continue until the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024, is passed in Parliament.
The Minister’s comments come amidst ongoing controversies regarding the ownership and administration of Waqf properties.
