Fri Nov 08 19:23:04 UTC 2024: ## BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Hypocrisy and Extravagance, AAP Denies Claims

**New Delhi, November 9, 2024:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of hypocrisy and extravagant spending during his tenure, calling him “the biggest symbol of VVIP culture.”

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, citing official documents, claimed that Kejriwal’s former official residence boasted a lavish interior, including 50 air conditioners, a 250-tonne air-conditioning plant, and toilet seats costing ₹12 crore. He also highlighted a ₹28.91 lakh television in the bungalow.

Bhatia further pointed out a 2013 social media post by Kejriwal, where he criticized then CM Sheila Dikshit for having 10 air conditioners, including in bathrooms. He accused Kejriwal of adopting the same VVIP lifestyle he once condemned.

“After spending a decade in power, Kejriwal has become the biggest symbol of VVIP culture,” Bhatia said, adding that the former CM is “the most corrupt politician India has seen.”

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in response, dismissed the BJP’s claims as “false accusations” designed to malign Kejriwal.

“The BJP may continue to adopt as many tactics to malign a staunchly honest Arvind Kejriwal, but people have seen through the false accusations levelled against AAP and its leaders,” AAP said in a statement.

The party highlighted Kejriwal’s decision to vacate his official residence following all necessary protocols after resigning as CM. “Unlike leaders who cling to their bungalows and privileges for years, Arvind Kejriwal set an example by resigning as CM and vacating the official residence,” the statement said.

The accusation comes amidst escalating political tensions between the BJP and AAP in Delhi, with both parties vying for dominance in the upcoming elections.
