Fri Nov 08 06:24:55 UTC 2024: ## Veteran Strategist Susie Wiles Appointed as Trump’s White House Chief of Staff

**WASHINGTON -** President-elect Donald Trump has chosen veteran Florida political strategist Susie Wiles as his White House chief of staff. Ms. Wiles, who served as co-chair of Trump’s campaign, will now become the first woman to hold this powerful position.

Known for her behind-the-scenes work in campaigns, Ms. Wiles boasts a long career in political circles. Starting with a stint in the Washington office of New York Rep. Jack Kemp in the 1970s, she went on to work on Ronald Reagan’s campaign and in his White House.

Her career in Florida saw her advising two Jacksonville mayors and working for Rep. Tillie Fowler. She later spearheaded statewide campaigns, notably assisting businessman Rick Scott in securing the governor’s office. Ms. Wiles also managed Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman’s 2012 presidential campaign before guiding Trump’s 2016 Florida campaign, a crucial win that helped him clinch the White House.

Despite a subsequent rift with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Ms. Wiles went on to lead Trump’s primary campaign against DeSantis, ultimately trouncing the Florida governor.

Ms. Wiles’ appointment comes as Trump enters his third presidential campaign, and her experience in managing successful campaigns is seen as a significant asset. She was instrumental in establishing a more professional operation for his 2024 bid, despite Trump’s tendency to break through those boundaries.

Ms. Wiles, known for her low-key approach and effectiveness in navigating the complexities of Trump’s personality, has earned the former president’s respect. She was instrumental in controlling his impulses, earning his trust through her ability to advise him effectively.

As White House chief of staff, Ms. Wiles will serve as Trump’s confidant, responsible for executing his agenda and managing competing political and policy priorities. Her role will also include acting as a gatekeeper, controlling who Trump interacts with.

This appointment marks a departure from Trump’s previous administration, which saw a record-breaking turnover of four chiefs of staff in his first term. Trump has previously stated that hiring the wrong people was his biggest mistake in his first term. With Ms. Wiles at the helm, Trump hopes to avoid similar pitfalls and ensure a smoother and more successful presidency.
