Fri Nov 08 11:50:00 UTC 2024: ## DP World Tour Sees Opportunity in PGA Tour Changes

**LONDON** – The DP World Tour, Europe’s premier golf circuit, is seeing an opportunity arise from proposed changes to the PGA Tour, according to DP World Tour Chief Guy Kinnings. In an interview with The Scotsman, Kinnings suggested that a reduction in the number of players on the PGA Tour could lead to more American golfers looking to Europe for their professional careers.

The PGA Tour announced plans to reduce its full-time membership from 125 to 100, as well as decreasing the number of players ascending from the Korn Ferry Tour. These changes are intended to improve the overall quality of the PGA Tour, but they could also have unintended consequences for aspiring golfers.

Kinnings believes that the changes could incentivize young American golfers to pursue a career on the DP World Tour, which offers a clear pathway through its feeder tour, the Challenge Tour. The DP World Tour has already seen an increase in interest and participation from players outside of Europe, and believes that the proposed PGA Tour changes could further accelerate this trend.

While the top 10 finishers on the DP World Tour will continue to earn PGA Tour cards under the proposed changes, the number of Korn Ferry Tour graduates earning PGA Tour cards will decrease from 30 to 20. This shift could give the DP World Tour a competitive advantage, as the tour offers a strong European base with quality venues and access to additional tournaments.

Kinnings is confident that the DP World Tour is well-positioned to capitalize on this potential shift in the golf landscape. “It wouldn’t surprise me at all if more Americans started to look at the DP World Tour,” he said. “We just have to monitor that and see what happens.”

This development could mean a more diverse and competitive future for the DP World Tour, as it looks to further solidify its place within the global golf landscape.
