Fri Nov 08 12:19:06 UTC 2024: ## Shreyas Iyer’s Double Century Propels Mumbai Towards Victory in Ranji Trophy

**Mumbai, India (ANI):** Shreyas Iyer continued his impressive form in the Ranji Trophy, scoring his third first-class double century against Odisha on Thursday. The Mumbai batsman amassed 233 runs off 228 balls, hitting 24 fours and nine sixes for a strike rate of 102.19.

Iyer’s knock, along with significant contributions from Siddhesh Lad (169) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (92), propelled Mumbai to a formidable 602/4 declared after being asked to bat first. Odisha is currently batting in their first innings.

This is Iyer’s third double-century in first-class cricket, following his previous double ton against Punjab in 2015 and a score of 202 against Australia A in 2017. With 405 runs in four innings at an average of 101.25, Iyer is the third-highest run-scorer in the current Ranji Trophy season.

These impressive performances come as a welcome boost for Iyer, who was dropped from the BCCI central contract list this year due to concerns over his commitment to red-ball cricket. Despite a recent slump in form, these strong performances in the Ranji Trophy demonstrate his ability and could potentially lead to a return to the Indian Test side.
