Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Al-Nassr will be aiming to bounce back from their King’s Cup exit and continue their unbeaten start to the Saudi Pro League season when they face Al Riyadh on Friday.
Despite drawing their last league match against Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr remain clear favourites for the clash at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium. The Knights of Najd have scored an impressive 20 goals this season while conceding just 8, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive solidity.
However, Al Riyadh presents a formidable challenge. They have defied expectations this season, transforming from a relegation-threatened team to a potential top-five contender. The team under manager Sabri Lamouchi has already achieved half the number of wins they managed in the entire last campaign. While their defensive record needs improvement, they have proven their ability to compete against top teams, holding both Al-Hilal and Al Ittihad to draws.
Al-Nassr will look to their star-studded attack, featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, and the in-form Talisca, to secure a victory. Talisca has been in exceptional form, scoring eight goals this season, six of which have come in the league, matching Ronaldo’s league tally.
Despite their impressive record, Al-Nassr remain without Sami Al-Najei, who is ruled out for the season following knee surgery. Al Riyadh will be without defender Enzo Roco, who is still recovering from a serious knee injury.
The last encounter between these two sides ended in a 2-2 draw back in May. However, Al-Nassr will be hoping to capitalize on their recent momentum and secure a crucial victory that will propel them forward in the league table.
