**Adelaide, Australia:** Pakistan delivered a stunning performance to humiliate Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval, winning by nine wickets with a massive 141 balls to spare. The victory levels the three-match series at 1-1, setting up a thrilling decider in Perth on Sunday.
The foundation for Pakistan’s dominant win was laid by their bowlers, led by the exceptional Haris Rauf, who claimed a sensational five-wicket haul for 29 runs. Rauf’s pace and accuracy proved too much for the Australian batsmen, who were dismissed for a paltry 163 runs, their lowest total against Pakistan in 60 ODIs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, with 3/26, also played a key role in dismantling the Australian batting lineup, while Mohammad Rizwan starred behind the stumps, taking six catches.
Pakistan’s chase was a masterclass in clinical batting. Abdullah Shafique (64*) and Saim Ayub (82) smashed a record-breaking 137-run opening stand, the second-highest opening partnership in Pakistan’s ODI history. Ayub, in just his second ODI, was particularly impressive, smashing six sixes during his blistering innings.
Australia, who were without the services of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood due to rest ahead of the Test series against India, were left reeling by Pakistan’s dominance.
“We’ve been pretty good of late, but today was right up there with one of our worst unfortunately,” said a dejected Cummins after the match.
Pakistan will now look to complete a series victory in Perth, where they will be the favorites. The two teams will then contest a three-match T20 series in November.
