Fri Nov 08 14:12:15 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Excise Department Cracks Down on Unlicensed Parties at Farmhouses and Venues
**Hyderabad, November 8, 2024:** The Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department has issued a stern warning to managers of farmhouses, convention centers, banquet halls, and clubs, threatening legal action if they allow parties without the department’s permission.
The department’s advisory states that violators will be blacklisted from applying for liquor licenses and face criminal charges, along with the event organizers. This comes after recent incidents of illegal liquor possession at various properties in Rangareddy district, including a case involving Raj Pakala, the brother-in-law of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao.
The department has highlighted the growing trend of unauthorized liquor consumption at such venues, particularly in areas like Chevella. Shamshabad alone houses 31 convention centers, 90 farmhouses, 65 function halls, 24 resorts, and other venues, making it a hotspot for such activities.
In July, the management of ‘Popular Farm House’ in Manchirevula was booked for illegal possession and consumption of non-duty paid liquor. Several other properties, including ‘Auroville Farm House’, ‘Meeraki Farm House’, and ‘Sports City Resorts’, were also blacklisted and served notices for similar violations.
The department emphasizes that organizers are required to obtain permission from the department to serve liquor at events, and venue management must secure a license before renting their properties for such occasions. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in severe consequences.
