Fri Nov 08 15:58:35 UTC 2024: ## Man Disrupts Mysuru Music Festival, Protests Karnataka’s Guarantee Schemes

**Mysuru, November 8, 2024:** A man disrupted the prestigious Mysuru Sangeetha Suganda Music Festival on Friday, interrupting Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech to voice his concern over the alleged depletion of Karnataka’s treasury due to the state government’s guarantee schemes.

The incident occurred as Sitharaman, who was the chief guest at the event, concluded her address. The man, identified as a resident of K.R. Nagar, rushed towards the dais and tried to grab the Finance Minister’s attention, accusing the government of “looting” the state.

The sudden outburst caused a stir among the audience, which included several prominent musicians and other dignitaries like Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi, Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C. Mahadevappa, MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, and BJP MLA T.S. Srivatsa.

Police personnel swiftly intervened and escorted the man out of the hall. While being removed, he continued to express his opposition to the guarantee schemes and urged Sitharaman not to announce any similar schemes in Maharashtra, which is currently in the midst of elections.

The incident put Minister Mahadevappa in an awkward position, as he is a senior member of the Siddaramaiah cabinet which implemented the guarantee schemes. Despite the man’s protests, Sitharaman instructed the police to let him go. However, the police took him out of the hall and asked him to leave the venue.
