Thu Nov 07 18:40:00 UTC 2024: ## College GameDay Analyst Kirk Herbstreit’s Beloved Service Dog Ben Battles for Life

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has shared a heartbreaking update on the health of his beloved service dog, Ben. Ben, a golden retriever who has accompanied Herbstreit on College GameDay for the past two years, is battling leukemia and his condition has taken a turn for the worse.

Herbstreit revealed on social media that Ben’s health has deteriorated rapidly since his second chemotherapy injection on October 23rd. The dog has lost use of his back legs, can barely walk, and hasn’t eaten in three days. Herbstreit is currently in Pennsylvania with a holistic doctor administering a three-day vitamin C IV in hopes of flushing toxins from Ben’s system and giving him a fighting chance.

“The next 24-48 hours will tell us if he has a chance or not,” Herbstreit shared, expressing his deep concern for his loyal companion.

Ben, a familiar face at College GameDay, has earned special credentials from athletic departments across the country and even made appearances in the broadcast booth. Despite his battle with cancer, Ben’s tail continued to wag, bringing joy to countless fans.

Herbstreit thanked fans for their support during this difficult time, acknowledging the emotional toll Ben’s illness has taken on him. “Ben is my best friend and companion. I love him with all of my heart,” he wrote, urging fans to pray for Ben’s recovery.

Ben is currently hospitalized and Herbstreit is hopeful that the vitamin C treatment will help him pull through. The next few days will be crucial in determining Ben’s fate, and fans are eagerly waiting for updates on the beloved dog’s condition.
