Fri Nov 08 12:19:20 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Bowler Suspended for Spat with Captain During England ODI Series

**Bridgetown, Barbados:** Cricket West Indies (CWI) has suspended right-arm seamer Alzarri Joseph for two matches after an on-field altercation with ODI captain Shai Hope during the final match of the three-match series against England. The incident occurred at the Kensington Oval, where West Indies secured an eight-wicket victory.

CWI Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, stated that Joseph’s behavior was deemed unacceptable and violated the core values of the organization. “Alzarri’s behavior did not align with the core values that Cricket West Indies upholds. Such conduct cannot be overlooked, and we have taken decisive action to ensure the gravity of the situation is fully acknowledged,” Bascombe said in an official statement.

Joseph has since issued a public apology, expressing regret for his actions. “I recognize that my passion got the best of me. I have personally apologized to Captain Shai Hope, my teammates and management. I also extend my sincerest apologies to the West Indies fans – I understand that even a brief lapse in judgment can have a far-reaching impact, and I deeply regret any disappointment caused,” he stated.

The match itself saw West Indies chase down England’s total of 263/8 with ease thanks to brilliant centuries from Brandon King (102 runs) and Keacy Carty (128 runs). The English bowlers struggled to contain the West Indies batting onslaught, leading to their third ODI loss in a row.
