Fri Nov 08 13:13:39 UTC 2024: ## BRS Condemns CM’s Musi Rejuvenation Padayatra as “Political Drama”
**HYDERABAD, November 8, 2024:** The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Musi Rejuvenation padayatra as a “political drama.” The party alleges that the project, which is displacing an estimated one lakh people in Hyderabad, is being undertaken in areas with no displacement, calling it a “political stunt.”
BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao questioned the Chief Minister’s choice of location for the padayatra, claiming it was deliberately chosen to avoid areas where the project has caused displacement. He further blamed the Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for the river’s decline, alleging their six-decade rule resulted in the Musi being reduced to a drainage channel.
Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao condemned the arrests of party leaders and activists in the wake of the Chief Minister’s padayatra. He accused the government of selectively targeting BRS members and urged the Chief Minister to conduct the padayatra in Hyderabad, where the project has directly impacted residents.
The BRS maintains that the Chief Minister’s padayatra in Nalgonda district lacks logic, given the ongoing displacement of people in Hyderabad due to the Musi rejuvenation project. The party has called for transparency and accountability from the government regarding the project’s implementation and its impact on the affected communities.
