Thu Nov 07 18:49:00 UTC 2024: ## Biden Addresses Nation After Trump’s Re-election Victory, Calls for Unity and Peaceful Transition

WASHINGTON – In his first public address since Donald Trump’s re-election victory, President Joe Biden delivered a message of unity and acceptance from the Rose Garden on Thursday morning.

Acknowledging the outcome of the election, Biden emphasized the importance of democracy and the will of the people. He assured Americans that he would ensure a “peaceful and orderly transition” of power, a subtle reference to Trump’s refusal to concede the 2020 election.

Biden, who spoke after Vice President Kamala Harris’ concession speech, reiterated the integrity of the U.S. election system, calling it “honest, fair, and transparent.” He closed his remarks by reminding Americans that defeat doesn’t signify the end, urging them to stay engaged.

Harris, in her concession speech, also stressed the importance of peaceful transfer of power and unity. She highlighted the fundamental principle of American democracy, stating that “when we lose an election, we accept the results.”

Despite the election outcome, Biden leaves office after leading the nation through the COVID-19 pandemic, bolstering international support for Ukraine, and passing major infrastructure legislation. However, his term ends with the return of his predecessor, who has pledged to dismantle many of Biden’s policies.

President-elect Trump, who faced two impeachments, a felony conviction, and an insurrection by his supporters, has vowed to reshape the federal government and reverse many of Biden’s priorities.
