Fri Nov 08 16:00:09 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Denies Receiving Formal Communication from India on Champions Trophy Boycott
**Lahore, November 8, 2024:** Pakistan’s Interior Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi has denied receiving any formal notification from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding India’s alleged boycott of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
Despite reports suggesting India’s intention to participate in the tournament under a ‘Hybrid Model’ (similar to the 2023 Asia Cup where India played their matches in Sri Lanka), Naqvi stated that no such proposal has been discussed with the PCB. “We are not willing to talk about it,” he said, adding that the PCB will only entertain any proposal in writing and will refer it to the Pakistani government for a decision.
Naqvi asserted that Pakistan is fully prepared to host all teams and matches, and that other cricketing boards are looking forward to participating.
Responding to reports quoting a BCCI official about India’s non-participation due to security concerns, Naqvi clarified that no such communication has been received. He highlighted that Pakistan has been making efforts to create a conducive environment for international cricket and expects reciprocation from other countries.
While the BCCI has remained tight-lipped, a senior BCCI source reiterated that the final decision on India’s participation rests with the Indian government, emphasizing that the team is not travelling to Pakistan as of now.
The last time India toured Pakistan was in 2008 for the Asia Cup, but since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the Indian team has not visited the neighboring country.
The ICC has previously maintained its stance of not interfering in a country’s government policy regarding hosting international sporting events.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to be held in Pakistan, and the situation surrounding India’s participation remains unclear despite denials from the PCB.
