**Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh:** The auspicious festival of Chhath Puja is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country, including Mandsaur district. On the third day of the four-day long festival, women gathered at the Shivna Ghat to offer prayers to the setting sun.
The festival, which commenced with ‘Nहाय-खाय’ on Tuesday, will culminate on Friday evening with offerings to the rising sun around 7 am.
Devotee Shivani Rai, who offered prayers at the Shivna Ghat, explained the significance of the ritual, stating, “We are here to offer our prayers to the sun god with all the necessary rituals. This festival is celebrated with great joy and is believed to fulfill wishes.”
Rani Pandey, another devotee, emphasized the special significance of Chhath Maiya’s worship. Another devotee, Pooja, shared her personal story, explaining that she had offered prayers for her husband’s recovery and was now celebrating the return of his good health.
Chhath Puja, primarily observed by the Bihar community, is a solar festival that honors the Sun god for his life-giving energy.
