Thu Nov 07 05:51:18 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Clinch ODI Series Against England in Dramatic Fashion

BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS – The West Indies secured a thrilling 2-1 series win over England in the third and final ODI at Kensington Oval on Wednesday, with a dramatic eight-wicket victory. The match was marked by an unusual incident in which West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph stormed off the field after a disagreement with captain Shai Hope over field placements.

Joseph, who had just bowled a wicket-maiden, was visibly frustrated with Hope’s field settings and made his displeasure known with animated gestures. The incident led to a heated exchange, culminating in Joseph leaving the field in the fourth over of England’s innings.

West Indies were forced to field with 10 players for one over before Joseph returned to the field after a discussion with teammate Hayden Walsh. The incident sparked controversy and left fans bewildered.

Despite the early drama, the West Indies bounced back to secure a comfortable win. Brandon King and Keacy Carty, in a dominant second-wicket stand of 209 runs, chased down England’s total of 263 for eight with seven overs to spare.

Carty, in a remarkable performance, smashed his maiden ODI century, hitting 128 not out off 114 balls, featuring 15 fours and two sixes. King fell for 102 after a stellar innings of 117 balls, studded with 13 fours and one six.

England, put in to bat first, were indebted to Phil Salt’s top score of 74, who averted a complete collapse after the tourists slumped to 24 for four. Salt’s innings was finally ended by the athleticism of King, who made a spectacular catch at the boundary. Sam Curran (40) and Dan Mousley (57) provided crucial support to Salt.

England’s lower order, led by Jamie Overton (30) and Jofra Archer (30), added a quickfire 100 runs in the final ten overs, with Sherfane Rutherford bearing the brunt of their aggression.

Matthew Forde, with a consistent and economical spell of 3 for 35, was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, while Joseph and Shepherd took two wickets each.

The two teams will now shift their focus to the five-match T20I series, which begins on Saturday in Barbados.
