**New Delhi:** The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has announced that the application window for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) will close on November 10th. The scheme, aimed at enhancing employability among Indian youth, has garnered significant interest with over 1.28 lakh internship opportunities already available on the dedicated portal, http://www.pminternship.mca.gov.in.

Launched in October, the PMIS pilot scheme has seen participation from 280 companies across diverse sectors like technology, manufacturing, finance, and healthcare. The program offers an allowance of ₹5,000 per month and a one-time grant of ₹6,000 to youth aged between 21 and 24 who have completed 10th, 12th, ITI, Polytechnic, Diploma, or graduate degrees.

“The response to the Prime Minister Internship Scheme has been overwhelmingly positive,” said an MCA spokesperson. “We have witnessed a surge in both company and youth registrations, demonstrating the scheme’s effectiveness in addressing the skill gap and fostering industry readiness among young Indians.”

The PMIS is a key initiative under the government’s vision for a “Viksit Bharat,” aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands. The scheme aligns with the Prime Minister’s focus on human capital development and aligns with his vision of a prosperous and advanced India.

Several leading companies, including Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and Maruti Suzuki, have already onboarded the platform and offered internship opportunities.

With internships available across 737 districts in 37 states and Union Territories, the PMIS is poised to significantly contribute to India’s economic growth by equipping its youth with practical skills and experience. The scheme is a crucial step towards creating a more skilled and job-ready workforce, ensuring India’s future success.
