Veteran Indian actor Kamal Haasan and acclaimed director Mani Ratnam are teaming up once again for the highly anticipated film “Thug Life,” set to hit theaters worldwide on June 5, 2025. The announcement was made on Haasan’s birthday, along with a first-look teaser featuring the actor as his character, Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar.

The duo previously collaborated on the iconic gangster epic “Nayakan” (1987), a box office blockbuster that garnered widespread critical acclaim and cemented their place in Indian cinema history. “Thug Life” promises a similar level of action and drama, featuring a star-studded cast including Silambarasan T.R., Trisha Krishnan, Ali Fazal, Abhirami, and Nasser. The script is penned by Haasan and Ratnam, and the film is a joint production by Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), Ratnam’s Madras Talkies, and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies.

Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Grammy winner A.R. Rahman lends his musical talents to the project, adding another layer of excitement to this highly anticipated release. The teaser offers glimpses of Haasan and Silambarasan’s characters in what appears to be an action-driven narrative, further piquing the interest of fans.

Meanwhile, Indian actor Prabhas, known for his roles in blockbuster films like “Baahubali,” has thrown his support behind The Script Craft, a new digital platform for aspiring writers. This platform allows writers to submit their story synopses for feedback and audience rating, providing a valuable tool for budding talent. The launch includes a contest titled “Imagine Your Favorite Hero with Superpowers,” with the winner receiving the opportunity to work as an assistant writer or assistant director on an upcoming project.
