Thu Nov 07 05:04:57 UTC 2024: ## Real Madrid Captain Modric Downplays “Crisis” Despite Back-to-Back Losses
Real Madrid captain Luka Modric has dismissed suggestions that the club is in crisis following consecutive defeats in La Liga and the Champions League. While acknowledging that the team needs to improve their performance, the Croatian veteran believes that the situation is not as dire as some perceive it to be.
“This is not a crisis,” Modric stated to Croatian agency Hina, “It’s not a word I like to use. I’ve been here for 12 years, and this isn’t the first time I’ve seen a situation like this.”
The comments come after Real Madrid’s 1-3 loss to AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, a game in which Modric played until the 63rd minute.
“There were moments when we played well, but it wasn’t our best performance,” the 39-year-old admitted. “Overall, we played poorly, and Milan was the better team.”
Modric stressed the need for the team to work harder to regain their usual high standards. “Our quality isn’t showing right now. We need to work harder as a team; only then do things become easier. I’m sure we will recover,” he concluded.
This setback follows Real Madrid’s embarrassing 0-4 loss to rivals Barcelona in the La Liga clásico on October 26. Despite the recent struggles, the team remains in contention in the Champions League with six points after four games. They face a tough test next against Liverpool away from home.
