Wed Nov 06 19:25:45 UTC 2024: ## England Captain Stokes’ Family Home Burgled While He Was in Pakistan

England cricket captain Ben Stokes has revealed that his family home was burgled while he was away playing in the recent Test series in Pakistan. The incident occurred on the evening of October 17th, while his wife and two children were present in the house.

Stokes confirmed that his family was not physically harmed, but a number of sentimental items were taken. Among the stolen items were the medal for the OBE he received in 2020, three necklaces, a ring, and a designer bag. Stokes has released photographs of the missing items in the hope that they can be recovered and the perpetrators identified.

“By far the worst thing about this crime is that it was carried out while my wife and two young children were in the house,” Stokes said in a statement. “Thankfully, none of my family came to any physical harm. Understandably, however, the experience has had an impact on their emotional and mental state.”

Stokes, who lives in Castle Eden in County Durham, has urged anyone with information to contact Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting crime reference CRI00575927.

This is not the first time a high-profile athlete has been targeted by burglars while away from home. Last year, Raheem Sterling had his home burgled during the World Cup in Qatar.

The incident comes as England is currently struggling in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan, having lost the first three matches. Stokes returned to the UK after the conclusion of the third Test last week, which England lost by nine wickets.
