**Chennai, November 6:** The Southern Railway has announced special train services between Chennai and Tirunelveli/ Tiruchendur to accommodate the influx of devotees for the Sashti festival.

The first special superfast train will depart from Chennai Tambaram at 10:30 PM on November 6th and reach Tirunelveli at 8:30 AM on November 7th. A second special train will leave Tiruchendur at 10:15 PM on November 7th and arrive at Chennai Central at 10:30 AM on November 8th.

This initiative comes ahead of the crucial ‘Soorasamharam’ event, a key part of the Kanda Sashti festival celebrated at the famous Tiruchendur Subramaniaswamy temple, which falls on November 7th.

The Southern Railway has also confirmed that advance reservations for these special trains will open shortly.

Meanwhile, security measures have been heightened in the Tiruchendur area to manage the expected crowds. The police are using surveillance towers and cameras to monitor the beachfront and temple complex, while the Navy has deployed personnel for coastal security.
