Wed Nov 06 09:53:53 UTC 2024: ## Skoda Kylaq Set to Debut in India, Targeting Growing Sub-Compact SUV Market
**New Delhi, India** – German automobile giant Skoda is gearing up to launch its latest offering, the Kylaq, in India on November 6th. The Kylaq is a sub-compact SUV aimed at capturing a growing segment of the Indian market, known for its affordability and practicality.
The Kylaq’s design, inspired by Skoda’s “Bohemian Crystal” philosophy, is reminiscent of popular models like the Kushaq and Slavia. Teaser images reveal key design elements including the headlamp outline, taillight shape, and the distinctive Kylaq badging. The vehicle is expected to feature modern aesthetics with fully LED headlamps and daytime running lights.
Under the hood, the Kylaq will likely be powered by a 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine, generating a peak power of 114 bhp and a maximum torque of 178 Nm. Buyers can reportedly choose between a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
The introduction of the Kylaq marks Skoda’s strategic return to the sub-10 lakh segment of the Indian market, a space they have been absent from for nearly a decade. This move aims to strengthen Skoda’s presence in lower-tier markets across India and meet evolving consumer needs.
The Kylaq will face stiff competition from established players like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra XUV300. As part of the Volkswagen Group, Skoda is confident in its ability to tap into the booming demand for utility vehicles in India.
