Wed Nov 06 09:05:06 UTC 2024: ## Skoda Kylaq: New Compact SUV Targets Indian Market

Skoda has finally unveiled its much-anticipated compact SUV, the Kylaq, specifically designed for the Indian market. This sub-four-meter vehicle is set to bring Skoda back into the sub-Rs. 10 lakh price bracket, aiming to capture a larger share of the market, especially in Tier 3 and Tier 4 regions.

Bookings for the Kylaq will open on December 2nd, 2024, with deliveries commencing on January 27th, 2025. The car is priced competitively starting from Rs. 7.89 lakh and will be available in six vibrant colors: Lava Blue, Tornado Red, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, and a new Olive Gold.

The Kylaq bears a strong resemblance to its larger sibling, the Kushaq, with a similar front and rear design. However, its compact size, measuring 3.95 meters in length with a 2.56-meter wheelbase, distinguishes it as a dedicated sub-four-meter SUV. The car features 17-inch alloy wheels and boasts a generous ground clearance of 189mm.

Inside, the Kylaq offers a modern and feature-rich cabin, including dual digital screens, a powered driver seat, leatherette upholstery, connected car technology, ambient lighting, and a six-speaker Canton sound system. Safety is a priority with all variants equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, headrests, and three-point seatbelts for all occupants.

The Kylaq comes powered by Skoda’s 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine, generating 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

With its stylish design, feature-rich interior, and competitive pricing, the Skoda Kylaq is expected to compete fiercely with rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Maruti Fronx, Maruti Brezza, and the Toyota Taisor.
