Wed Nov 06 09:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Austinites Head to the Polls: Voting Locations, Wait Times, and Election Day Rules
As Austinites prepare to vote in the general election on Tuesday, they can find their nearest polling location and, in some counties, even check the wait times.
Over 100 Texas counties participate in the Countywide Polling Place Program, allowing registered voters to cast their ballot at any location within their county of residence. A list of participating counties can be found online.
While not all counties track wait times, each provides a map or list of polling locations. Polling locations are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
**Where to Vote:**
* **Travis County:** [Link to full list of locations]

**Acceptable Forms of ID:**
Voters must present a valid photo ID. Acceptable forms of ID include:
* Texas driver license
* Texas Election Identification Certificate
* Texas personal identification card
* U.S. military ID (active duty or retired)
* U.S. citizenship certificate
* U.S. passport
* Texas handgun license
Voters unable to present one of these IDs can fill out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and present an alternative form of ID, such as a utility bill, bank statement, government check, or voter registration certificate.
**Cell Phone Restrictions:**
Texas law prohibits cell phones at the voting booth. Election judges can order voters to deactivate or turn off their devices. Those who refuse will be asked to leave.
Poll watchers are also prohibited from having cell phones. Furthermore, all wireless communication devices, including cameras, tablets, laptops, and sound recorders, are banned within 100 feet of voting stations.
**What’s on the Ballot:**
In addition to the presidential election, eligible Texans can vote for other officials at the local, state, and federal levels. This includes lower-level judges and local county offices. A full list of ballot items can be found on the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
