Sun Nov 03 17:47:45 UTC 2024: ## Russia Launches Massive Drone Attack on Ukraine, 66 Drones Destroyed

**KYIV, Ukraine -** Russia launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine overnight into Sunday, sending 96 drones and a guided air missile towards the country, according to Ukrainian officials.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported destroying 66 drones and the missile during the attack. An additional 27 drones were “lost”, likely due to electronic jamming, while one drone crossed into Belarusian airspace.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attack, stating that Russia had launched approximately 900 guided aerial bombs, 500 drones, and 30 missiles against Ukraine over the past week.

Zelenskyy appealed to Ukraine’s allies on X (formerly Twitter) for “long-range capabilities for our security”, arguing that the attacks “would have been impossible if we had sufficient support from the world.” He reiterated Ukraine’s requests for access to long-range weapons to strike targets within Russia, including training camps for North Korean troops.

The Ukrainian President also urged international partners to implement “truly effective sanctions to prevent Russia from importing critical components for drone and missile production.” This appeal followed Zelenskyy’s statement on Saturday that over 2,000 drones and missiles using Western components were launched against Ukraine in October, highlighting the need for stricter export controls to combat sanctions evasion.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that 19 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight in three Russian regions: Rostov, Belgorod, and Volgograd.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that a man died in Belgorod region due to a Ukrainian drone attack on Sunday.
