Berkeley residents faced a busy election on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024, with seven tax measures, rent control proposals, and numerous local races on the ballot. Voters selected a new mayor, filled City Council seats, and elected members for the Rent Stabilization and School boards.

The election also saw a contest for a new Alameda County Supervisor and a recall vote for District Attorney Pamela Price.

Polls closed across Berkeley and California at 8:00 PM, with voters in line at that hour still allowed to cast their ballots. Results are being updated throughout the night by the Registrar of Voters and local news outlets.

With an 82.92% voter registration rate in California and 84% in Alameda County, the 2024 general election saw a significant turnout. Alameda County, with a high percentage of Democrats, witnessed a slight rise in Republican voter registration compared to 2022.
