**DEARBORN, MI** – Kwame Lewis Jones, 29, of Dearborn, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses after allegedly breaking into a home and assaulting the homeowner on Saturday. Jones is facing charges of first-degree home invasion, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and assault and battery.
According to Dearborn Police, Jones was observed pacing outside a residence on the 22000 block of Cleveland Street at 12:15 p.m. He then entered the home and allegedly assaulted the homeowner by placing his hands around their neck. The homeowner managed to escape with only minor injuries and alerted authorities.
Officers quickly responded to the scene and apprehended Jones. Investigators also uncovered evidence linking Jones to an earlier assault on a person filling up a car tire on the 3800 block of Monroe Street.
“Violent acts and invasion of personal property are not tolerated in our city,” stated Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin. “I am grateful for the vigilance and assistance of the community which directly aided the Dearborn Police Department in bringing this dangerous individual to justice.”
Jones was placed in the Wayne County Jail with a $50,000 bond. He is required to wear a GPS tether if released. His next court date is scheduled for November 13th.
