**Kanpur, India** – The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has released the eligibility criteria for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2025, the gateway to admission into prestigious IITs. Candidates aiming to crack the exam next year can access the detailed criteria on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in.

The eligibility guidelines are primarily focused on Indian nationals and include five key aspects:

**Performance in JEE (Main) 2025:** Candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 in the BE/BTech paper (paper 1) of JEE Main 2025, encompassing all categories including general-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and open category. A horizontal reservation of 5% is allotted for PwD candidates within each category.

**Age Limit:** Candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 2000. SC, ST, and PwD candidates receive a 5-year age relaxation, allowing them to be born on or after October 1, 1995.

**Number of Attempts:** Candidates are permitted a maximum of three attempts at JEE Advanced, spread across three consecutive years.

**Class 12 Examination:** Candidates must have appeared for their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2023, 2024, or 2025, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects. Those who appeared in 2022 or earlier are ineligible.

**Previous Admission at IITs:** Candidates who have been admitted to an IIT under any academic program listed in the JoSAA business rules of 2024 or earlier are ineligible. This includes those whose admission was cancelled after joining an IIT. However, candidates admitted to a preparatory course at IITs in 2024 are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2025. Candidates who were allocated seats in an IIT but did not report online or withdrew before the final round of seat allotment, or had their seat cancelled before the final round, are also eligible.
