Tue Nov 05 17:49:07 UTC 2024: ## Potential Train Sabotage Averted in Kasaragod
**Kasaragod, November 5, 2024:** A potential train sabotage was averted near the Kasaragod railway station on Monday after suspicious items were discovered on the railway tracks.
The items, including metal pieces, coins, and a bottle of oil bound with tape, were found on both the east and west tracks. While a train safely passed through the eastern track, a vigilant track inspector spotted the suspicious objects on the western track during a routine inspection. He alerted the station master, who immediately filed a complaint with the Kasaragod town police.
The items, discovered around noon, included a glass bottle of coconut oil, with the oil poured onto the track. Police quickly deployed a canine unit to search for additional evidence.
Senior officers, including Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar, Railway Circle Inspector Sudhir Manohar, and Railway Sub-Inspector M.V. Prakashan, responded to the scene to lead the investigation. Authorities have begun reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify potential suspects.
This incident marks the latest in a series of similar events in the district. In previous incidents, an iron item was found on the tracks in Uduma, stones were placed near the Kalanad tunnel, and remnants of an old closet were discovered on a railway track.
The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to uncover the motive behind these incidents.
