**New Delhi:** Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, known for her soulful renditions of Chhath songs, is currently in a critical condition and on ventilator support at AIIMS, Delhi. Her son, Anshuman Sinha, confirmed the news through a live update on her official YouTube channel, appealing for prayers for her recovery.
Anshuman revealed that his mother’s health has taken a turn for the worse and that doctors are doing their best. He expressed deep concern about her condition, stating that it’s a “tough battle” and that he has recently signed the consent for her treatment.
He urged fans and well-wishers to refrain from spreading misinformation and instead offer their prayers for her speedy recovery. He also highlighted the singer’s immense contribution to Indian music and her dedicated service to the nation and her state, requesting everyone to keep her in their prayers during Chhath Puja.
Sharda Sinha, born in Samastipur, Bihar, on October 1, 1952, has been a celebrated figure in Indian folk music. She started her career in 1980 with All India Radio and Doordarshan, but gained immense popularity for her mesmerizing Chhath songs. Her musical journey also includes contributions to Bollywood films, lending her voice to popular tracks like “Kahe To Se Sajna” from “Maine Pyar Kiya,” “Babul” from “Hum Aapke Hain Kaun,” and “Taar Bijli Se Patle” from “Gangs of Wasseypur 2.”
The singer, a recipient of Padma Shri (1992), Padma Bhushan (2006), and Padma Vibhushan (2018), has touched countless hearts with her soulful music. Fans have expressed their sadness and are offering prayers for her well-being, hoping for her quick recovery.
