**London, November 5, 2024:** Former Home Secretary Priti Patel has been appointed as the shadow Foreign Secretary by the newly elected Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch. The appointment, announced Tuesday, signals a move by Badenoch to unite the divided Conservative Party.

Patel, a prominent figure in the Conservative Party, was one of the contenders vying to replace Rishi Sunak as party leader. Badenoch’s choice of Patel, along with other key figures like Robert Jenrick as shadow justice secretary and Mel Stride as shadow chancellor, is seen as an attempt to build a strong opposition team.
