**Hyderabad, November 5, 2024:** A four-year-old boy, Mohd Shoheb, who was kidnapped from Osmania General Hospital, has been safely reunited with his family after a swift 12-hour rescue operation by the Afzalgunj police.
The incident occurred when Shoheb’s father, who had taken his son for medical treatment, fell asleep in the waiting hall after consuming alcohol. When his wife, Rubeena Begum, arrived at the hospital, she discovered her husband asleep but couldn’t find their son.
Concerned, Rubeena immediately filed a missing person’s report with the Afzalgunj police, who launched a comprehensive investigation. Analyzing CCTV footage from various locations including Public Gardens, Nampally and Secunderabad Railway Stations, Indira Park, Tank Bund, and metro stations, the police team spotted the suspect, Shaik Rafeeq alias Rafi, 35, a laborer, with the child at Dabirpura flyover.
Police swiftly apprehended Rafi at Dabirpura Railway Station as he attempted to board a train, rescuing Shoheb unharmed.
“The police team, which was constituted immediately, worked tirelessly and rescued the boy within 12 hours,” said East Zone DCP B. Balaswamy.
The successful rescue operation has been commended, highlighting the dedication and quick action of the Afzalgunj police in ensuring the child’s safe return to his family.
