**Jamshedpur:** Chennaiyan FC stormed back to winning ways after a seven-year drought in Jamshedpur, defeating the home side, Jamshedpur FC, by a resounding 5-1 margin in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 encounter at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Monday.
The Marina Machans’ victory was a complete domination, with goals from Pratik Chaudhary (own goal) in the 6th minute, Irfan Yadwad (22nd), Connor Shields (24th), Wilmar Jordan Gil (54th), and Lucas Brambilla (71st). Yadwad was awarded the Player of the Match for his goal and two assists.
The match saw Chennaiyan FC take control right from the start, with Chaudhary’s unfortunate own goal setting the tone. Yadwad doubled the lead with a brilliant solo effort, followed by Shields’ third goal within the first half hour. Gil further extended the lead in the second half, before Brambilla sealed the fate of the match with a stunning lob.
Jamshedpur FC managed a consolation goal in the 81st minute through a penalty converted by Spanish midfielder, Havi Hernandez.
This resounding win sees Chennaiyan FC climb to sixth position in the table with 11 points from seven games. Meanwhile, Jamshedpur FC remains in fourth place with 12 points but suffers their second consecutive loss.
The match witnessed a dominant display by the visitors, who not only controlled possession but also displayed a potent attack that left the home side’s defense in shambles. This victory at the JRD Tata Sports Complex marks Chennaiyan FC’s second win at the venue, with their first victory coming seven years ago on December 28, 2017.
