**New Delhi:** Veteran folk singer Sharda Sinha, known for her contributions to Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Maghahi music, remains in critical condition at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The 72-year-old Padma Bhushan recipient is currently on ventilator support after facing complications due to multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

Sinha was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital last month. Her son, Anshuman Singh, confirmed her critical condition, appealing for prayers and urging people to disregard fake news circulating about her demise. “My mother is fighting for her life,” he stated in a live video shared on her official YouTube channel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been closely monitoring Sinha’s condition and has expressed his prayers for her speedy recovery. AIIMS has confirmed that the Prime Minister is in direct contact with the treating doctors. Union minister Giriraj Singh and Lok Sabha MP Chirag Paswan have also visited the ailing singer at AIIMS to inquire about her well-being.

Sinha, often hailed as “Bihar Kokila,” is a beloved figure in her native state and parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Her folk songs, sung at events like Chhath Puja and weddings, have resonated with millions. She has also lent her voice to popular Bollywood films like “Gangs of Wasseypur- II”, “Hum Aapke Hain Koun”, and “Maine Pyar Kiya.”

Sinha’s battle with multiple myeloma started in 2017. Her dedicated fans and the nation are hoping for a miracle recovery for the iconic singer.
