Tue Nov 05 10:07:27 UTC 2024: ## Congress Accuses BJP of Seeking to Plunder Jharkhand’s Resources in Election Rally

**Ranchi, November 5, 2024:** Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the BJP in a pre-election rally in Mandu, Jharkhand, accusing the party of seeking to exploit the state’s mineral resources rather than prioritize the welfare of its people.

Kharge alleged that the BJP’s heavy presence in Jharkhand, with a larger number of leaders than candidates, was indicative of their desire to “snatch power from a tribal Chief Minister,” referring to incumbent Chief Minister Hemant Soren. He further claimed that the BJP’s focus was on Jharkhand’s “black gold,” referring to the state’s coal reserves, and not on the well-being of its citizens.

“The BJP talks about infiltration, but why can’t their governments at the Centre and in Assam act against illegal immigrants?” Kharge questioned, further accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being the “head of liars,” referencing unfulfilled promises of job creation.

Kharge also criticized the BJP’s economic policies, alleging that the current government favors the wealthy, with the top 5% of the population controlling 60% of the national wealth, while the bottom 50% have only 3%. He highlighted the government’s decision to waive Rs 16 lakh crore in loans for wealthy individuals while failing to provide relief to the poor, farmers, and Dalits.

The Congress leader demanded immediate clearance of Rs 1.36 lakh crore in coal dues to Jharkhand, arguing that the funds would benefit the state’s people. He expressed confidence in Soren’s re-election as Chief Minister.

With Jharkhand assembly elections scheduled for November 13 and 20, the Congress appears to be capitalizing on concerns about the BJP’s alleged exploitation of resources and lack of focus on the welfare of the people. The coming weeks will reveal whether this strategy will translate into electoral success for the Congress.
