**Bengaluru, November 5, 2024:** An assistant drug controller in Bengaluru, Ajayraj D. Sha, was arrested on Monday for accepting a bribe from a pharmacist. Sha had allegedly demanded ₹50,000 to grant a licence to Subramanya, who sought to start a wholesale pharmacy firm. He eventually settled for ₹40,000.
The Lokayukta, an anti-corruption agency, received a complaint from the licence applicant and promptly launched an investigation. A team of officials caught Sha red-handed while accepting the bribe and arrested him under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The officials subsequently searched Sha’s residence.
