**Hyderabad, November 4, 2024:** In a significant move, the Telangana government has formally recognized the Sadar Sammelan as a state festival. This historic decision comes after years of the festival being celebrated without official recognition.
TPCC general secretary Charan Koushik Yadav expressed gratitude to the government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, for this recognition. He lauded the support of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, and TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud in institutionalizing the festival.
Mr. Yadav highlighted that despite a 78-year history, the festival had never received official status from previous governments. He recalled Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s promise to recognize the Sadar Sammelan during last year’s celebrations.
The government order directs the Commissioner of GHMC and District Collectors (excluding Hyderabad) to organize the Sadar Sammelan annually. The Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture Department will oversee the celebrations and manage associated expenditures.
The recognition of the Sadar Sammelan as a state festival is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the community’s cultural heritage and promoting its traditions.
