Sun Nov 03 16:13:23 UTC 2024: ## TSRTC Workers Launch Statewide Campaign Demanding Merger with Telangana Government

**Hyderabad, November 3, 2024:** The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) Joint Action Committee (JAC) has launched a state-wide campaign demanding the merger of the corporation with the Telangana government. The campaign, which kicked off today, will see JAC members wearing black badges to highlight their demands.

The JAC cites unresolved issues like the need for new buses, salary parity with Telangana government employees, and a revision of pay scales as the driving force behind their protest. JAC vice-chairman Thomas Reddy stated that workers had supported the Congress party in the last Assembly elections, expecting these long-standing issues to be addressed.

The JAC has planned a meeting with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to further press their demands. Memoranda outlining the current state of affairs and workers’ grievances will also be submitted to District Collectors across the state.

Mr. Reddy highlighted the plight of TSRTC workers, stating, “All promises are pending. Workers are suffering under the burden of heavy work, and there are thousands of vacancies. Workers barely get any rest after long and tough working hours. Even leave approvals are a major issue.”
