Actress Helena Luke, known for her role in the Amitabh Bachchan film “Mard,” has passed away in the United States on November 3rd. The cause of death is currently unknown.
Luke was married to actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty for a brief four months. She later moved to the U.S. and worked in the airline industry. Despite her short film career and marriage, she will be remembered for her contributions to Hindi cinema.
The news of her death was confirmed by dancer and actor Kapana Iyer on social media. Luke’s final Facebook post expressed a sense of “mixed emotions and no idea why, discombobulated.”
This news comes amidst Mithun Chakraborty receiving the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest film honor. Earlier this year, the actor was hospitalized for chest pain and diagnosed with Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident. He was last seen in the Bengali film “Kabuliwala,” released in December 2023.
Mithun Chakraborty is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award, India’s third highest civilian award.
