**Chennai, November 4, 2024:** The brutal murder of K. Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president, in July 2024, has been linked to a complex web of conspiracy involving three major gangs in the city. This shocking revelation came to light after a detailed investigation by the Chennai City police, resulting in a 5,000-page charge sheet filed in October 2024.
The police investigation revealed meticulous planning by the accused, who went to great lengths to transport and store the weapons used in the murder. Explosives, intended for the murder but never used, were even transported to the premises of a government hospital and the Madras High Court, bypassing security measures.
The accused, led by “Sambav” Senthil, utilized a network of associates and multiple hideouts to execute their plan. They employed elaborate tactics like disguises and forged identities to evade detection. The weapons used in the murder were sourced from a gambling club run by slain gangster “Arcot” Suresh.
The police, who formed 17 special teams for the investigation, tracked down and arrested several suspects. The accused, including “Ponnai” Balu, Arul, and Manivannan, were charged with various offenses, including murder, criminal conspiracy, and rioting.
Despite the arrests, three key suspects, including “Sambav” Senthil, remain at large and are currently being pursued by the police. The case has been referred to a sessions court for trial.
This case highlights the dangerous consequences of gang violence and the lengths to which these criminal organizations go to maintain their dominance. The detailed investigation and the subsequent arrest of the accused are a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the Chennai City police in bringing justice to the victim and ensuring the safety of the city.
