Sun Nov 03 20:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Jets Return Home Riding High After Perfect Road Trip

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Jets are back in Winnipeg after a successful two-game road trip, winning both games in dominating fashion against the Detroit Red Wings (6-2) and Columbus Blue Jackets (6-2). They now enter a four-game homestand, starting with a showdown against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Scott Arniel praised his team’s response after a disappointing home loss to the Maple Leafs last week. “It was a heck of a lot better than what we were at home in the last one,” said Arniel. “Our leadership group took off and made sure they were the best players first, and everyone else kind of jumped on board.”

The Jets currently sit atop the NHL standings with a record of 10-1-0. However, Arniel knows the schedule gets significantly tougher, starting with the Lightning. “It does not get any easier,” he said. “Tampa, they’re a tough, tough hockey team. They’ve got some top-end skilled players, guys who have Cup experience.”

While the Jets’ offense is clicking (second in the NHL with 52 goals), Arniel emphasizes the importance of maintaining their defensive structure. “It’s a tough league to score in. We’ve got to keep to our structure,” said Vladislav Namestnikov. “I think the main focus is on defence and then everything opens up from there.”

The Jets are eager to build on their recent success at home, where they boast a 8-1-0 record over the last nine regular season games. They’ll need to be sharp against a formidable Lightning team before facing other Central Division rivals like the Utah Hockey Club, Avalanche, and Stars over the next week.

The game against the Lightning starts at 2:00 PM CT and will be broadcast on TSN 3 and on the radio at 680 CJOB/Power 97.
