Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer slammed former President Donald Trump’s recent campaign rally in New York City, calling it “horrible.” Budenholzer, whose Bucks lost to the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, expressed his bewilderment at the size of the crowd at Madison Square Garden.
“If you saw Madison Square Garden, come on. It’s like, ‘This is the guy?'” Budenholzer said, according to Sports Illustrated. “So, it’s super important for me to vote. I’m going to keep it as close to the vest as I can. But, God. When I tell people, like, the guy is this big, why did 80 million people vote against him the last time he ran? I don’t know. It’s horrible.”
Budenholzer’s comments follow a recent advertisement he starred in supporting Vice President Kamala Harris. The ad features Budenholzer inviting second gentleman Doug Emhoff to participate in a game of “Hail Mary.”
The Bucks coach’s criticism of Trump comes just days after San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich also condemned the former president in a press conference, calling him a “threat to our democracy” and accusing him of using his office for personal gain.
Both Budenholzer and Popovich have been vocal about their political views and have encouraged others to exercise their right to vote.
